Hatta Rajasa is Not Prabowo's Official VP Yet: Gerindra

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party said it has not officially named National Mandate Party (PAN) chairman Hatta Rajasa an the vice presidential candidate for Prabowo, Gerindra's chief patron.
Gerindra chairman Suhardi said that PAN's national work meeting yesterday only decided that the party would Prabowo's nomination. Suhardi asserted the meeting made no official statement about Hatta running as Prabowo's first mate.
"PAN only suggested that Pak Hatta becomes the vice president candidate to Pak Prabowo," Suhardi told Tempo, Thursday, May 15. According to Suhardi, the decision to choose a vice presidential candidate depends on what Prabowo decides and what agreement is made between Gerindra and the parties it is in coalition with.
"There must be a mutual agreement," Suhardi said.
He also said that Prosperous Justice Party (PKS)—touted to be Gerindra's coalition partner—had also proposed some names to run with Prabowo in the July 9 presidential election.
PKS proposed three names, Suhardi said, chairman of the PKS faction at the House Hidayat Nur Wahid, its president Anis Matta and its Shura Council member Ahmad Heryawan.
Meanwhile, Suhardi said that the United Development Party (PPP) did not propose anyone as Prabowo's VP. "PPP declared it will coalesce [with Gerindra] unconditionally, and leave the decision [over who will run for vice president] to Pak Prabowo," he said.
Suhardi remained tight lipped about its vice president candidate, only stating that it would be announced before May 20.
